August 31, 2023ASDO conducted the second training session in Albania with the focus on “Albanian Police Cyber Incident Response Training” as part of the “Cyber Security and Data Protection” project being implemented by the organization with the assistance of the Swiss Embassy in Albania.
The project is developed as a response to the latest personal data and cyber security attacks in the country. The aim of this project is to increase the awareness of the general public and interest groups on personal data protection and cyber security as well as raise the capacities of the institutions in preparing and combating cyber security threats in the country.
During the training, the representatives from the Cyber Security Force at the Albanian State Police, managed to learn and interact with the trainer, Lior Rahamim and be able to identify data breaches, cyber threats and the mechanisms and tools that would help them in their fight to counter these threats.
The first days of the training were focused on a theoretical overview of data enrichment, what it is and the tools to be used, what is a Cyber Response Playbook, the need for a SOC- Security Operations Center and how it should be structured and methodology of work,
The other days were focused on hands-on training, starting with a lab on possible cyber-crime scenarios, where the team of trainees worked together to group and classify these possible crimes and think of ways to efficiently counteract them. Other important moments were the use of AI tools in order to create and use in an efficient way during the work of the team, as well as counteracting malware attacks.
The training provided a good opportunity to network and coordinate the work within the Police Force Team and build bridges with security experts and methodologies from non-profit organizations, international intelligence practices and local know-how. Learning and interacting with experts from the Israeli Government that work in counteracting and keeping the country’s cyber safe space, allowed for the team of the Albanian Police to adapt and improve their identification of threats as well as working in minimization and counterattack tactics.
These interactions also provided the way for further cooperation among experts in order to create a better equipped, well trained and updated Cyber Security Force in Albania, thus fulfilling one of the main objectives of the project, which is to safeguard the data and security of the Albanian citizens and keep them protected.
