ASDO Joins Global Education Week 2026: Turning Voices into Action

Tirana / Sheptytskyi, 23 July 2026 – The Albania Sustainable Development Organization (ASDO) has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Just Transition Agency of Sheptytskyi, Ukraine, establishing a new framework for international cooperation in sustainable development, green transition, innovation and youth engagement.
The agreement reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to strengthen cooperation between Albania and Ukraine and to exchange practical experience in areas that are increasingly important for local communities across Europe.
Through the partnership, ASDO and the Just Transition Agency will explore and develop joint initiatives focusing on the green transition, digital innovation, energy efficiency, sustainable local development and youth-oriented programmes. Particular attention will also be given to identifying opportunities for participation in European and international funding programmes.
For ASDO, the cooperation represents an opportunity to build on its experience in sustainable development, innovation, capacity building and community-based initiatives while creating new links with Ukrainian institutions working on the transformation and resilience of regions undergoing significant economic and social change.
The partnership is also expected to facilitate the exchange of methodologies and good practices between Albanian and Ukrainian stakeholders, including municipalities, civil society organisations, young people and other local actors.
Ada Ilia, Executive Director of ASDO, highlighted the importance of building practical international partnerships that can translate common challenges into concrete projects:
“The green and digital transitions require cooperation beyond national borders. Through this partnership, we want to exchange experience, connect institutions and communities, and develop initiatives that can generate tangible opportunities for both Albania and Ukraine.”
The Just Transition Agency also emphasised that the Memorandum creates new possibilities for knowledge exchange between the two countries, particularly in the fields of green transition, digital innovation, energy efficiency and youth initiatives, as well as for the joint development of proposals under European grant programmes.
The establishment of this cooperation was also supported through the engagement and communication of Petro Vasylyshyn, Deputy of the Sheptytskyi City Council, whose contribution helped facilitate the partnership between the organisations.
The Memorandum marks the beginning of a longer-term collaboration, with both partners aiming to move from institutional exchange towards the preparation and implementation of concrete joint projects.
For ASDO, the partnership forms part of its broader commitment to strengthening European cooperation and developing innovative approaches to sustainable, inclusive and resilient local development.
