NaturEUnite Delegation Visits Southern Albania to Explore Sustainable Nature Protection and Eco-Tourism
March 27, 2026From 14 to 16 April 2026, the Albania Sustainable Development Organization (ASDO) participated for the first time in the Global Education Network (GEN) Annual Meeting held in Madrid, marking an important step in strengthening its international engagement and collaboration within the global education community.
The event brought together 52 members from 41 countries, including representatives of civil society organisations and public authorities, serving as a strategic platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and joint planning among national coordinators of the network. ASDO’s participation reflects its growing role as a contributor to international dialogue on Global Education and sustainable development.
Organised under the framework of the iLEGEND III programme (2022–2026), a joint initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, the meeting highlighted the importance of fostering Global Education through coordinated international efforts.
Throughout the three-day meeting, ASDO engaged in thematic workshops, peer learning sessions, and interactive exchanges with organisations across Europe and beyond. A key component of the agenda was the “Sharing Best Practice” session, where 14 innovative initiatives were presented, demonstrating practical tools and methodologies for advancing Global Education. Within this session, ASDO presented its BiblioTech programme as a concrete example of community-based, technology-driven learning.
ASDO’s participation enabled the organisation to exchange experiences, explore new partnerships, and position its work particularly in areas such as digital transformation, youth empowerment, and inclusive community development within a broader European and global context.
This first engagement with the Global Education Network represents a significant opportunity for ASDO to further contribute to the development of innovative educational practices and to strengthen its role in promoting human rights, critical thinking, and active citizenship. It also opens pathways for future collaboration and cross-border initiatives aligned with the principles of Global Education.
By becoming part of this dynamic network, ASDO reinforces its commitment to advancing sustainable development and fostering a more inclusive and interconnected society through education and international cooperation.
