Cyber security training with the State Police
August 31, 2023ASDO conducted an information session with representatives from the Local Education Offices in the Lezha region regarding the protection of the personal data as well as presentation with current legal framework in Albania regarding personal data protection, the new updates on the legislation as well as role and importance of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Albania.
This meeting was conducted as part of the “Cyber Security and Data Protection” project, supported by the Swiss Embassy in Albania, is being implemented as a response to the latest personal data and cyber security attacks in the country. The aim of this project is “To increase the awareness of the general public and interest groups on personal data protection and cyber security.”
The meeting aimed at introducing staff from Local Education Offices, as the people in charge of handling and collecting personal information of their students and their parents or custodians, given the increasing access of technology in education as well as the new introduction of the electronic system for the collection and reporting of grades of students being introduced in Albania. During the meeting the representatives from ASDO introduced the new legislation on personal data protection, along with some key aspects that the new law introduces. Further on there was a discussion on the need for raising awareness for the responsible use of technology from students and parents, as well as the need for information and collaboration with the central government and institutions in order for the implementation of the new legislation to go as smoothly as possible.
