In the digital age, the legal processing of personal data is related to the taking of measures appropriate in terms of equipment and systems security.
The Commissioner’s Office, in cooperation with the Center Albanian Association for Sustainable Development (ASDO), with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Tirana, have developed several cognitive and awareness-raising activities within the project “Cyber security and protection of data.” These meetings were held with students and lecturers Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Tirana, with students and teachers of 9-year schools “1 Maji”, “Ali Demi” and “Elina”.
These activities focused on the necessity for familiarity with the legal framework of the field in an ever-changing environment more technologically/digitally advanced, for delivery of quality and safe services and for the full guarantee of citizens’ rights.
The experts explained for meeting participants principles and criteria that the legislation defines for a process of regular processing of personal data of citizens, illustrating them with examples concrete from practice. The aforementioned sectors considered among the great controllers for due to the type and amount of personal data that process, taking into account the high number of individuals involved in this process. In the assessment of in this position, it is important to understand that the reception of appropriate technical-organizational measures, including one secure digital/cyber environment, impact prevention and minimization of personal data breaches.
An important issue that was addressed during the meetings of this the project was that of initiating programs or trainings specific, with interdisciplinary content and methodology new in their curricula, both within educational structures as well also in cooperation with other parties/actors the field of personal data protection. Specifically, in the developed activities in 9-year-old schools, the game “Happy onlife”.
For the students of the participating teacher, this initiative encourages the critical thinking of young people, especially, for the behaviors they have to adapt while using social networks.
The participants were introduced, also with the exercise of it their rights, or with practical advice for safe use of the digital/cyber environment.
