Tech Camp, three days inside the world of technology
October 6, 2022In December 2021, the Albanian Sustainable Development Organization in cooperation with city of Shkodra, collaborated with UNICEF Albania for the pilot project “BiblioTech”. The aim of project was to create corners to the spaces of their public centers.
As one of the most beautiful technological concepts, “BiblioTech” was embraced with more enthusiasm not only by the municipality, but also by the young people participating in the inauguration of the spaces.
This investment came in the context of UNICEF's commitment to empowering children and young people with digital learning and skills to prevent and face online threats, by creating an interactive space protected from abusive material thanks to #FriendlyWiFi.
“Bibliotech” corners are equipped with the latest technology tools, where every child and adult will have the opportunity to develop their technological skills, digital learning, and participate in trainings that will be provided in those spaces.
The “BiblioTech” initiative is a continuation of the work of UNICEF and main municipalities of Albania to turn cities into child-friendly cities and smart cities for their inhabitants. Part of the prevention component of ‘Transforming the national response to human trafficking in and from Albania’ program, funded by the “Modern Slavery Fund” of the United Kingdom, the “BiblioTech” corner in Shkodra has already become the favorite space of many young people passionate about technology. This is due to the fact that since the beginning of December 2021, UNICEF provided professional training with local experts in the fields of: Internet security, building a website in WordPress, how to launch a startup and cryptocurrency knowledge.
The inauguration day in Shkodra was greeted by Mrs. Voltana Ademi, the Mayor of Shkodra and Mr. Roberto de Bernardi, Resident Representative of UNICEF Albania.
Mrs. Ademi expressed her gratitude to UNICEF Albania for the important investment that will benefit the future of Shkodra youth.
The “BiblioTech” program, in Shkodra and Tirana, will continue the training sessions with experts in various fields that will include seminars, information sessions, technology-facilitated activities on digital education, internet security, technology, start -ups etc. for the children and youth of the city.
