Promoting fair recruitment and mitigating precarious working conditions for migrant workers in the Western Balkans
November 26, 2024On International Children’s Rights Day, the Albania Sustainable Development Organization (ASDO) hosted a special event to promote better support and rehabilitation for minors in conflict with the law. The event, held in partnership with the Juvenile Crime Prevention Center (QPKMR) and the French Embassy in Albania, celebrated the collaboration between Albania and France to improve juvenile justice.
Deputy Minister of Justice Klajd Karameta and French Ambassador Catherine Suard attended the event, sharing their commitment to making Albania’s justice system more supportive and inclusive for young people.
The event included a panel discussion with experts from Albania and France, such as Sylvie Le Blavec from the National School for Juvenile Legal Protection and Klaudia Hasanllari, Director of Juvenile Crime Prevention Center (QPKMR). Together, they highlighted how education, social inclusion, and international cooperation can help young offenders get a fresh start in life.
Attendees also watched the French film “Brother” which tells a powerful story about how rehabilitation can change lives. After the screening, participants discussed how lessons from the film could be applied to Albania’s juvenile justice system.
This event brought together educators, policymakers, legal experts, and community members to explore ways to support young people in conflict with the law. It showed how collaboration between countries can lead to better systems that focus on giving every child the chance to grow and succeed. ASDO, known for its focus on social inclusion and youth development, organized this event to inspire meaningful change. By demonstrating the success of the partnership between QPKMR and the French Embassy, the event highlighted the importance of education and compassion in creating a brighter future for Albania’s youth.
