Responsible personal data elaboration in the private sector in Albania
April 2, 2023In continuation of our work to improve the Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection in our country, ASDO conducted an information session titled: “Awareness on personal data breach” for students and young professionals in the IT sector in Tirane. This information session conducted as part of the project “Awareness on cyber security and protection of personal data”, supported by the Swiss Embassy in Albania.
Nowadays youngsters are living in environments that increasingly require regular interaction with data and technology. Some of these will soon enter the workforce as software engineers, as tech startup entrepreneurs, as journalists, and in other professions integral to collective privacy conversations. Because students are not fully equipped to weigh the potential benefits and risks of data collection and use, they require special data privacy awareness.
This information session focused on sharing knowledge on the importance of data protection, data protection rights and responsibilities, best practices on protecting their online identities, inform about the IDP role, and how to claim possible data breach.
The round table ended with a question and answers session and some of the questions asked focused on the collaboration with state institutions such as the Information and Data Protection Commissioner, on the role that compliance teams have in keeping up with the amendments of the Data Protection law in Albania as well as sharing some personal and organizational experience when dealing with possible data breaches and safeguarding of personal data of their clients.
